SCHOOL HISTORY

The saga of “The Scholar (WB271)” dates back to 2nd May 2001, an auspicious day on which the foundation stone of the school was laid on the outskirts of a rural town Islampur in the district of Uttar Dinajpur in West Bengal. It was an initiative taken by the Islampur Welfare Educational Society (Reg. No. SIL1583) that proposed the name, THE SCHOLAR, Islampur.

The delegation of the IWES had a strong belief that THE SCHOLAR would become a reality one day. Their indomitable spirit and zeal to succeed procured NOC from the state of the West Bengal in the month of December 2002. Then they turned their attention to the revered CISCE to get the affiliation for the school and the subsequent process was unfurled. Being convinced of the positive efforts made by IWES and its support staff, our revered Council sent Reverend Sir. John A.K Ghosh, a Council-designate to complete the formalities and inspect the on-ground preparedness of THE SCHOLAR. It was his eyes that caught our honest efforts and subsequently we got the confirmation of the affiliation. It was 27.06.2005 and we were asked to deposit Rs.20000 to procure the written manuscript of Provisional Affiliation and THE SCHOLAR became THE SCHOLAR (WB271).

The locality of Islampur showed an overwhelming response and showered love, affection and faith upon us and we proceeded further to build THE SCHOLAR of our dream. Since then there has been no looking back. Now it boasts of having had 1600 + and 50 + teachers and non-teaching staff. Now it ensures everything to cater to all needs of learners and ascertains all around development of them, who will hold reigns of various fields in near future.

At this juncture, we are THE SCHOLAR (WB271) at Islampur, Uttar Dinajpur, West Bengal, ready to expand its wings to soar higher with ISC wing of the Council.
